Exclamation Anyone have a MS4 in a 6.0???

Just wondering if anyone has one of these. I'm now to the point of getting a cam. Been looking at the MS4. My buddy has one in his GTO with a 6.0. I was surprised when he told me that he put it in there with only LT's. I was reading and saw that it will fit in there with no PTV stock. I will be buying a set of WCCH LS3 heads in a couple weeks. Just wondering if anyone already has this done. If I do get the heads in and PTV is a problem, then hopefully I can fix it with a thicker gasket. I really don't want to get into the bottom end yet.

I had the ms3 cam in my old 6.0 with patriot heads made impressive power. I have always heard the ms3 cam makes more power then the ms4 you may want to check into that.

The MS4 will not fit with the LS3 heads. The valves in those heads cut down on p to v quite a bit. I know it will fit with stock heads as long as the stock valve remains in the head. Otherwise you will have to flycut your pistons.

John, which cam would you recommend with this setup? I still have to choose a converter too.

The biggest cam we have been able to fit with those heads is a 231/236 .641/.615 112 LSA. We have a few cars running around with 490-500 rwhp with that cam and some ported heads.

So is this what you would recommend? Can you get me a price with springs and pushrods?

I am recommending that cam based off your original post saying you wanted to run the MS4. Since it is too big for those heads, I suggested the largest cam that will fit. We can do a cam package with pushrods, the cam, and springs for $689.99 + shipping.

Just recommend me what you think will be good. I just want something that pulls hard. I will very seldom drive it on the street. This will be the setup, stock bottom end, LS3 heads (more than likely sent to you guys for the porting), undecided on intake (probably LS3, would like a fast but everyone says their hard to tune and I might not have that much for one with the throttle body. But if it's what I have to have then I guess I'll have to get one.), Underdrive pulley, and probably a 100 shot.

Keep in mind the LQ4 is the lower compression motor. I have the MS3 in my LQ4 with fast92 and supporting mods put down 435 rwhp.

John, I think you forgot to mention a few things about 490-500rwhp!!! Yes, those numbers are possible but there is no way you are going to make those numbers with head and cam only. You will need a few things to make it near 500rwhp. A fast 102, some 1 7/8 headers and a cai. I have the ms4 and prc 215 heads on my car=-) it made 416rwhp and 400 torque. I have pacesetter 1 3/4 headers, stock ls2 intake and a stock paper filter intake. I put a Volant cai and it added a more than I expected. I bet on a cool day it would put close to 450rwhp, being that they day I had it dynoed it made 6 pulls before we made a peak of 416. I am told with a fast and bigger headers i will be around 490rwhp=-)

I’m telling you tsp is the best for N\A motors!!!! Make sure you ask for estimated hp guess, with your current setup!!!!! Just looking out for you bro, good luck with your setup!!!!

I apologize that I did not include every single bolt on he was supposed have to make the power, I can only assume that since he is asking a question like this that he has the correct bolt ons. On the internet I have no idea what people have so I answer the question as best I see fit.

I will be running an LS3 intake. I have already bought one. Will also be running 44lb injectors. Hopefully they will be enough. I guess I will have to go with the cam recommended.

44lb injectors are good to about 600rwhp!!!! what other mods do you have? what size headers do you have? do you have a cold air intake? make sure that monster can breath!!!!if your going to use a ls3 intake i would look into a custom ground cam!!! the better the cam matches, the more happy you will be.

if you are running the l92 heads you should used the tsp 231/236 cam. If you are running a cathedral head I would use the new comp lsr cam for catherdral heads. Its a 235/243. Makes 80rwhp gains and tons of low end with the new lsl lobes.
