Yes you do still need to be concerned with VVT and AFM. The cam you are talking about from TSP is the one I am using in my L92 418 combo build so I am interested in your results. If it has AFM you will need non-AFM lifters such as the LS7 lifters

The LS3 is not 403hp, it was really close to 485 flywheel in stock form with dyno headers and without accessories. That was the baseline. With the PRC heads and cam package the LS3 was rivaling the power levels of the 5.7L in our TSP 98 Camaro.
