LS3 Lifter Drop
I am building an LS-3 and I finished installing some CompCam hydraulic lifters and when installing the Yella Terra rockers I had a rod drop down about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. It was like the lifter dropped out of the retaining tray. I did a hand turn on the engine to see if I felt any resistance and no problem, the rod set itself again up to the right level and I locked everything in place. So, how I can know if the lifter didn't drop and turn in the tray without removing the head? I have the engine in a stand right now and would really like to not have to remove the head to check this.

take the rockers off, get a magent pen and stick it in the hole where you "think" the lifter might have fallen. If it did fall, it may still be possible to fish it out with a magnet pen, but then again, it may drop down to the oil pan =/
