Default Salvageable L92???

I am new to the LS family of motors and want to know, is it possible to repair
an L92 block with .040 scratches in a cylinder wall from a dropped valve? If
so what method would you recommend?

My machinist is trying to sell me a set of pistons that are .060 over. Is that doable on this block? Is is possible to resleeve one cylinder?

Thanks for any help here.

Too much. Cylinder wall thickness will be too thin In my opinion

are you just wanting to repair it? then yes, I've seen blocks resleeved (one hole) back to stock specs then honed to the exact measurement of the other 7, rings fit accordingly as well. if you want to go another route, I'd go with all 8 bigger (yes 4.125 is a good size) and keep the stock stroke and have a big bore motor that still revvs nicely.

Talking sleeve

last time i priced a full set of sleeves for an LS1 out to 4.125 cost done was close to $1800

fix the hole thats hurt and rebuild it stock... if thats what you want...

im going with L92 block (same as LS3) found a deal on a callies 416 kit from CPRPARTS ebay (custom performance) paid $1950!!

im working with them on a set of heads too... want to make about 650-680 NA HP. they have CNC ported heads.

in short, if you want to get back on the road.. fix one hole and call it a day...

want to go fast... fix one hole and spend money on the heads!

want to be king -- stroker and heads and boost or nitrous...

Thanks for the replys. Planning to build a street motor in the 500HP range to
take the place of my aging LT1 in my 85 Jag XJ6. Will sleeve the bad cyl idea and carry on from there. I thought maybe boring .060 over would be a risky deal on this motor.
