Wouldnt need to stroke it for those numbers, but itd be easier with a nicer curve. Stroking an ls3 gets you a 416 or a 427, or bigger, but again, for what you want its not far off. Those heads will take you there too but porting wouldnt hurt. There will definitely be some input from people more well informed than myself, but youre starting with the right platform.

Even porting the heads its going to be tough to reach 550rwhp na. I could see it being possible on the stock short block IF you ran a better head like a TFS 245. If you want to keep the LS3 heads, They will need to be ported and you are going to need to run a stroker 416 or bigger. My .02

I'm in the process of building a 416 LS3. Short answer I got this weekend is: Yes, but not easily or cheap. I didn't pursue further than that question, I'm sure a different cam and better heads would do it. But the better heads aren't in my budget...

Whats not cheap? You can have your LS3 heads cnc ported for right around 1k, Thats pretty cheap if you ask me. Yes you can make 550rwhp with either a 416 or a 427 key would be who ports the heads for you and what cam you go with. I had Pat G spec my cam he knows his stuff as well as a few others on here.

CA 91 octane, not a ragged out tune (also no inflated numbers), and a true streetable cam in my case
