Nope, just thread them in hand / finger tight. You can use Loctite, but it is not necessary, and they must be torqued before the Loctite dries. The studs need to be able to wiggle a little when you torque them. Make sense?

I did use loctite on my studs, and when i screwed them in the block and bottomed them out ,i backed them out 1/4 turn. That's what ARP told me to do.

The only thing I would consider, is that if for some reason a stud is ever over-torqued, it will need to be removed. Also, if they aren't Loctited in, you can take them out and measure the length to see if they are stretched beyond acceptable limits.
