Default LS2 Corvette C6 crank pulley

Hi All,

I'm new user in this forums and I need you help to fix my issue.

I have a corvette c6 2007 which it's always cutting the engine belt.

I had changed everything, crank pulley with the bolt, tensioner and alternator pulley and in idle it's running fine in high RPM's it's got cutted from the front which it's cussed by the crank pulley.

Finally we found that the crank pulley more inside from the other pulleys maybe 3mm or 4mm.

Could anyone help me with this problem what's causing this issue if we already installed new crank pulley with new bolt?

Thnaks

I have no idea what may be causing this. Any modifications to the car? Like a supercharger. I am sure someone will come along with better advice.

Thanks bro, no modifications at all there was racing crank pulley but removed and installed the orginal one.

I saw the new crank pulley is the same of the one installed in C5 LS1

Is the C5 LS1 is the same crank pulley of LS2 C6?

Yea it may not be on on the way, causing poor alignment. How tight is the belt on the pullies? Does it feel too tight or loose? Also check and make sure it is not rubbing against any aluminum, coolant/intake hose clamps, or anything like that.

You said it's on too far by a few mm? Did you somehow force it all the way to where the face of the pulley where the bolt sits is lined up with the front of the crankshaft?

Only 3 things (and one is waaaay out there):
  • balancer snout is shorter (could someone have machined the snout?)
  • crank timing gear is thinner (how could that happen?)
  • all acc'y drives are spaced out further (WTF!)
If your balancer measures correctly (I'm sure someone on here has one on the bench they could measure), the only other reasonable explanation is that the crank timing gear is somehow thinner than normal, allowing the balancer to pull up close to the block. Bottom line is to have someone make you a shim to place between the balancer and timing gear to get your alignment right.

You'r the right, we had add washer between the balancer and the timing gear and it works fine, but is this correct solution?

No, but it works. A lot of guys could pull this fix and call it a day, personally I'd never be happy not knowing what was wrong or why...

What ever came of this? My LS2 with Corvette accessory drive is experiencing the same issue, I'm pulling the engine back out next week to see why. Only difference is, mine is using an SFI balancer. I have a stock C6 balancer to measure the SFI piece against once it's all apart, anyone have any measurements from face of block to end of timing gear and end of crank snout?
