Lightbulb 08 Silverado motor ?s

I have 2008 4.8L silverado that isnt satisfying at all. Looking to bore and stroke it and try to get into the 500+ hp range. Out of curiosity, is a ls1 crank interchangable with the genIV motors? Also is there any bottom end clearancing needed if a ls1 crank can go in? Looking to bore to the 3.898 of the ls1, just curious about what crank options can fit in there

They are just like the rest of the Gen III/IV motors. You can bore it and stroke it to make a 382 out of it. Just make sure you get a 58x reluctor crank and you'll be fine. You will have a hard time making 500RWHP through an auto with that small bore though. It is possible, but you'll be spending some big money on heads, intake, headers, etc. You'll also need one hell of a cam. You may want to consider swapping to a 6.2L or just adding boost.

400 to the wheels is a much more obtainable goal. Unless you have some real deep pockets, 500 will not happen N/a. Id look into a larger bore block and some real nice heads to try and get there or go with zippy and grab a blower for it. People are having a hard time hitting 500 with 6.0l blocks, ported heads, big cam and thru a 6speed.. check the dyno section for results of these builds.

Yeah looks like high rise turbo is gonna have to be the solution. Maybe 5.3 crank and rods, with a 3.898 bore and around 10 lbs of boost will be a little easier to work with
