Default 2010 L96 vs LY6

i just bought a silverado 2500 and am trying to figure out the difference between the L96 and the LY6. the L96 gets 38 HP more than the LY6 but both get the same torque. i am assuming that the LY6 gets better gas mileage but havent seen any numbers to confirm? strange that the LY6 is standard in the heaviest "heavy duty" silverado in that model year while the more HP L96 is standard in the "lighter" heavy duty rigs?

are there any good sites that would help clear up questions like these, because there sure as hell arent any salesmen/parts dept/service dept/ guys that have ANY clue.

From what I read, the L96 is the replacement of the LY6. IIRC..... the replacement is now flexfuel compatable.

I am not sure what the real deal is though. If you find out, post it.
