Aluminum or Iron Block
Aluminum or Iron Block Knowing that I should, or will be forced to, build or buy a forged short block soon I'm in the early stages of researching. I'm still undecided whether to put new rods and pistons in my 6L AL LS2 block or sell mine and buy a short block outright. If the latter it seems like a lot of the short block packages I see are the iron 6L truck blocks. Is this because the AL blocks are inferior in any way (head sealing, cylinder rigidity, etc)? Are they better when building a stroker? Without having researched much I think I'd prefer to keep the AL block. How much more does the iron block weigh? Any other pros/cons?
