Default Obligatory cam thread (404ci LS2)

OK I've been looking at few cams, two in particular for my LS2 build. Both are Comp LSR cams but I don't know which one will work best with my setup or if they need to be optimized in terms of LSA and advance.

The engine will run a FAST 90/90 and ported LS6 heads (around 11.2-11.4 compression). I plan on running dual valve springs in them as well. Pistons are -4cc. You know the rest for the bottom end.

The two cams I am looking at are:
  • 239/247 .624" 114+4LSA
  • 243/247 .624" 114+4LSA

The second one is listed as a blower cam but I've seen cams of similar spec work with N/A setups. I'm no expert on valve events and such and could use a bit of help. The split on the first one seems kind of wide to me for a cathedral port motor but they list it for them.

It's going in a 6-speed C5 and will mostly be used for street and road course work. Probably won't run above 6500-6700rpm.

If you guys have any suggestions on any other cam you like, post them up.

The first should have more on the bottom and since you road race be the more desirable cam. Check out my dynograph and see if this is the powerband you are thinkin about... Our setups are very similiar and IMO the most impressive thing here is the flat torque curve carrying 400 ft.lbs + from 3500-6300. In a m6 you would easily break 500rwhp and also consider this is thru 1 3/4 " headers, cats, and a catback with a 3" I pipe..

The cam is a relatively small EPS 238/250 .603/.612 112LSA (though it was ordered on a 113) ICL is 110... BTW the Comp LSL lobes have a very similiar profile to Geoff's lobes but I believe are slightly more agressive...

What I would really do in your shoes is to get Geoff to spec you a custom....

Yep, option 1 looks best. Extra exhaust duration will help with mufflers and cats etc
