Default Need help with cam selection for L76

So I'm going to be doing work on an L76 for a buddy of mine. This is going in a tube-frame race/rock buggy. The block is out of an '09 Silverado. He is wanting to swap cams and get rid of the VVT. He wants as much horsepower out of the cam as possible. He is not worried too much about torque numbers, the axles will be geared in the high 5.'s to low 6.'s. He would like to be able to keep the RPM's up pretty high.

My questions:
  • What else will need to be changed? I've read that the lifters need to be changed and the front timing cover needs to be changed. To what? What lifters should be bought and what timing cover?
  • Which cam and valve springs do you recommend?
  • Any other things that will need to be changed out?
  • Any specific break-in additives or oils that should be bought?

If you need more info or have questions let me know and I'll try to ask him. I don't have the motor in hand yet, but will have it this afternoon.

Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks!
