317's on l92 short block question
Ok so here's the story. I just picked up an l92 long block with one damged head and ive got a set of 317 heads just laying aroung. I was planning on installing it into my Ws6.
It dropped a valve and scratched the cylinder wall but its fixable. I can buy a set of .20 over pistons from gm for pretty cheap.
My question is would it be worth running the 317's and my intake on the l92 short block with it bored .20 over and new factory pistons. Or should i just buy a new head and buy and ls3 intake?

on another note there is an LS3 intake on ebay right now for $259 "but it now". It's complete with intake, fuel injectors, and fuel rail....... you might want to jump on that.
Yeah it could be done with 317's and a cathedral port intake..
No with 317's and L92 intake, intake ports will be different.
But you would be a rare and few case where this is done. Most want to take advantage of the flow capacity of the L92/LS3's with the L92 bore....
I could see running 317's for high boost, FI etc... but if its a NA setup. I would definitley not invest anytime in porting or headwork for a set of 317's on a L92 shortblock, and why waste the time and labor to put 317's on a L92 shortblock when you can simply buy a set of assembled LS3's for $600-$650? Then get the Ebay intake setup and take advantage of about 30-50 more horsepower. Or you can just use the L92 truck intake, with a sacrifice of a few ponies up top, it depends on you intent.
But its up to you. Just do it right the first time unless it your daily driver and you need to get it running fast and even then your leaving power on the table.
