Luck with dropout engines from ebay etc? We are building my father a 32 ford pickup that he has owned since the 70's. Currently getting to a roller stage and am going to need a motor in the next month or so. Looking for either an LS2 or LS3 with a 4L60. Thinking of doing just a mild cam, possibly intake and shorties, then taking it to have it tuned.
I have been watching Ebay for complete units and have been looking at vendor costs to just go new but would want a complete package which seems hard to find. My question is does anyone have any advice about buying a dropout engine? Seems like for around 6-7k I can get a complete unit with trans with 30-40k. If I purchase a long block and than add accessories and electronics and trans the price is quite a bit higher.
Anything I should be worried about with a used engine? They all claim to have some form of warranty and I would think we would look at a new timing chain, oil pump and possibly the rod bolt swap. It is a big purchase and just want to get some opinions before we pull the trigger.

http://www.lkqcorp.com/ is another option. I know you can work out a deal for all accessories and even the ECM if you are nice enough to them lol. Good Luck! Put up a build thread too!
