Default Oil Catch Can

function? necessity? I'm having an LS3 418 Stroker built by Xtreme HP Solutions -should I invest in one? I'm kinda fuzzy on its function and want to make sure I'm not wasting $$ since the LS3 is not an LS1 which I know there were issues that the can was needed.

Thank you in advance

catch cans are good and functional but that ebay piece looks like a joke, I'm sure you can find a bettter one or make your own using an oil seperator.. very common part for compressors or jegs has one that looks better than that.
But if your venting to atmoshpere then you dont need one. It all depends on what your doing with your pcv system

If you're building an LS3 you should have the LS3 valley cover, that has a system built in that functions the same as a catch can.

What is it then? I thought the LS3 valley cover just has a port for PVC.

Except it doesn't, and generally sucks at controlling oil vapor period. I go though a qt/600 miles with my car Would certainly rather that quart end up in the can then in the intake/burned off.

I see no reason why it shouldn't work like it is designed. I'd say you have other problems if you're burning that much oil...
