Default Opinions needed for 402 build

I am building a 402 motor for my 2000 Firehawk. I am at a dead end with what heads to go with. I will be going with a very stout cam... one of Thunder's Track cams! I am not trying to spend $2000+ on heads and was thinking staying with a stock head. Something like a L92, LS3 or LS7 to go with a FAST 92mm intake. What are some opinions on heads to go with for this build. I am looking for a good balance of TQ and HP, but more for TQ at the low end. Any opinions are appreciated ...... Thanks!

If you want more torque at the low end I would recommend looking into a cathedral port head. All of the rectangle port heads have very large intake runners and intake valves. While this provides for lots of air flow up top, it usually give up a little low end to a cathedral casting. Just something to keep in mind when looking for heads.

I don't think they make a FAST 92 for LS3/L92 or LS7 heads...The do make the FAST 102mm for those heads though...Just make sure the cam matches the heads you choose along with the purpose of the car and you'll get the engine setup you want....

Yes they make a FAST 102 for both L92/LS3 heads and LS7's now..

LS7's will not fit. L92's will prolly make the most power and leave you room to grow... a word of advice..... pick out your heads FIRST and then get a cam to match.... A TracK cam is great with the RIGHT heads...

That cam would be better with some Cathedrals if you already have it... maybe some ported 243's or TFS "as cast" 220's.....

I bought a set of as cast TF 220 and hand ported them. Even with a baby cam, my 403 roasts them through all of 2nd. Looking to get DR's on the back for traction. I read countless threads here before and during my build and it seemed to me that cathedrals in the 225 range with a mild cam was the most impressive for all around street use.
