Does anybody know the difference in these? GM has different pn's for them. I'm gathering parts to get rid of the DOD cam in the G8 and have heard people say either one will work.

 

The LS3 valley cover has a port for the oil pressure sending unit, The LS2 does not, The oil sender screws straight to the block on the LS2, The LS3 block does not have a threaded hole for it, The LS3 valley cover has a different design and it covers the oil sender port on the block and the sender screws to the cover.
