Default JE Pistons?

These are a thing of beauty. Does anyone know why the JE piston isn't used much in LSX builds??

They make an excellent piston, but Wiseco/Diamond have more on the shelf.

Really? That can't be the only reason. I bought them because my builder said he uses them all the time and can get them within 2 weeks, and he did. I still can't figure out why they are not used much on LSX builds other then the "off the shelf" deal.

Been gone over a ton. Most of their shelf stuff is not so good and they don't have much coverage. Wiseco has ten times the coverage and has more for your money.

I use JE on reg SBC and SBF etc. often but they don't have almost anything for LSx although they are moving to fix that I am sure. They make good stuff in general just not a lot for the LSx.

This is great to hear. I just have been worried it is a quality issue and i just don't want to tear this thing apart again for awhile!

wait times on their custom stuff is pretty rediculous...I think we waited 4+ months for my last set.

JE's fastest expedite isn't usually even that fast and that is a 100% markup over normal customs. Maybe you got a set of customs already made or something.

Yep, custom made for me. I was there when he called in the order. My builder has been working with a guy right in JE for years and he will always push his orders through. Not sure how it works but he guaranteed them within 2 1'2 weeks because i was going to order from you guys and Chris said 6-8 for sure on Wiseco's. I didn't want to wait this long so i went with JE's. He actually helped JE fix some LSX piston designs and issues when JE first started out making these for the LSX builds. I wanted to believe it would be this quick but i had my doubts. I paid $1200 with the rings so i didn't think it was just too bad!??

Thumbs up

You paid to expedite them then. That's about 400.00 more than Wiseco from us but they won't expedite at all so you have to wait. We used to order a lot of JE at the school and they are the fastest when expediting pistons. I think now that Diamond will also rush orders as well for a lot more money but Wiseco won't do it still.

Really? Chris said about $1000 without the rings?? Thing nice about Wiseco though is the skirts come already coated and JE's didn't which was some more money on top of it. Oh well, gotta pay to play right!?? I was just worried about quality and was hoping they didn't have an issue. No biggie. I'm just happy i have them and i won't be down half the summer again waiting for pistons...

No I am wrong on that Chris is right as total cost would have been around in the 950.00 range and it does depend on which options you get as well.

JE's are awesome pistons and they really are faster when expedited. I don't know why Wiseco won't even offer a faster service but maybe they will in time.

Cool. Like i said, i'm fine with the way it went down. I am happy to know i got a good set of pistons in a quick amount of time. I woundn't have bet on them coming that fast. Now i'm interest to see what this thing will do power wise with the added compression and E85! Got any good guesstimates? I was at 672/574 on the crank dyno at 11:7 to 1. Now i'll be right at about 13:7 to one with very little changes. The cam will stay the same so other then the Morel lifters, stainless exhaust valves, and new pushrods it will be pretty much the same...Except for all the said issues!
