7.375 pushrod correct? TSP:402/LS2 build
I am in the process of finishing up a build for my 98 T/A. The short block is a LS2 402 along with PRC 2.5 stage heads all from TSP. Using the GM MLS head gasket with no milling done to the head, I came up with 7.375 using a comp cams pushrod length checking tool. I would like any input on this from the veteran builders and even the TSP crew venturing this forum. Thanks for the time!!!

Every setups different even with the exact/ similar parts. Only sure way to know is to measure it and it sounds like you did. Make sure you measure a couple valves to be sure, at least 2 intake and 2 exhaust ones.
This is my first time attempting to check for pushrod length. As for the depth, I'm unsure exactly how to measure that. The heads are already bolted down with ARP headbolts. I checked 1 of each valve. I am also using harland sharp 1.7 non-adjustable rockers, which from what I understand from other threads does not effect the length significantly compared to the stock rockers.
There are different methods of checking for proper push rod length. What I like to do is set lifter preload first. I use my adjustable pushrod to come up with zero lash. Measure the rod. Then I lengthen it to give me the preload I want. I install check springs on the valves and run it through a cycle and watch the pattern across the valve tip. If that's acceptable, I'm done. If it's not, you have to compromise preload to achieve the proper wear pattern across the valve. Or, you can play with valve length if you are really ambitious. But to me, lifter preload is the first thing you want right. Adjust from there if you have to.
