ls7 02 Z06 with 600rwhp 427 gets over 20mpg on the highway in 5th and 6th gear...put your foot in it and it goes down a lot. If the tune is good and compression is up there you can get good highway mileage with high hp engines.

My old 383 with 3.42's and a 60E got in the 20's. The new 416 with a bigger stall and 4.11's gets the same as my 6.0 2500 HD truck about 13-16.

yea that stall and gears are goona ef up ur mpg a good amount.....if you threw some 3.42s back in there, dont btw, but if you did youd probly be seeing high teens, like 15-18...i dont really think tat "stroking" a motor...lol......actually will suck up enough gas to notice....its just all the other supporting mods that do it....and as stated earlier the tune plays a good role also

I think you can still get pretty good mpg. I think more compression will help on that. I just did a head cam setup on my c5 z06 made 450/412 and i am still ave 18-20 combined and 28-30hwy. 228-232 cam, tfs 220's milled to 59cc, fast intake, stock 3.42's. Daily driven.

Higher compression provides higher engine efficiency - so long as fuel is available that won't detonate. Not unusual to see old BBC and SBC drag race motors with compression ratio at 15 or higher.

Pro stock BBC can have a static ratio around 15 and still get 17.5 or so dynamic. Getting 1400 horsepower out of 500 inches is approaching 3 hp per cubic inch. Not bad for pushrods and carbs.

How exactly does an NA Pro Stock engine have greater dynamic compression than static?

My 416 stroker in my Z06 gets around 12mpg city and as much as 25mpg hwy IF I keep my foot out of it. (cruise control at 80mph is very efficient). Once I start playing around on the highway it drops drastically. The car is such a blast to drive I wouldn't care if it got 5mpg,,,hahaha!

Stroker will get less. Hmmm. That's a shocker. If you want to see what more cubic inches will do to your fuel eco, leave it out of OD for a full tank. Running higher RPM at cruise will be similar to having more cubes. Now, if the extra cubes feel so good that you're always hammering on it.....
