Hi Guys

Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad with the K1 Technologies stroker kit (boosted 408ci) or are they aware of any issues with these rotating assemblies?
Also how much boost and power will they handle?

I have the same questions about the Manley rotating assemblies? and how do they compare to each other and other assemblies in the similar price range.

We've done more with the K1, so I'm a bit biased but I can say we've had a lot of success with the K1 line-up. They are comparable in quality out of the box with the Callies Compstar products, to give you an idea what they have going.

 

Manley and callies r about equal, then K1.

There is a $400 difference between a callies dragonslayer 4340 crank and a K1 crank. dragonslayer costs $1050. callies compstar $900.

I visted the Carillo in so-cal years back. Waste of time all they did was show me a small trophy case with a few @#$ed up rods that didn't "shatter" but just deformed after an engine catastrophy. They were very proud but wouldn't let me tour anything on the site.... like I was some type of 17 year old spy who wanted to steal their design....

They mentioned K1 was their Chinese produced line and was pushing out items that were machined dead on with a lower price.

 

i have had issues with the K1 stuff in the past, but i have also had some success, but i have no issues with callies compstar stuff, used one manley crank, worked out fine

I purchased a K1 crank and rods here in Aus because the price was reflective of the Aus dollar and the US retail price.

Unfortunately the price of rotating assemblies here is usually not reflective of the Aus dollar and the US retail price and prices can often be over double the US retail price and that is why many people are choosing to buy direct from the US.

I am happy with the quality of the crank and rods and they do look almost identical in appearance to the Manley crank and rods.

I now need to do some shopping for some Wiseco -15 or -20cc dished pistons and some AFR heads for my new TVS 2300 boosted 408 iron block.

how does the k1 crank and rods compare to the tsp

 

I have a K1 stock stroke in my 6.2 and it was a nice crank--machine shop said the dimensions were right on the mark. All they did was polish the journals and balanced it with the rods and pistons. Before that I used a Molnar stroker crank. I don't see how you can tell the difference between these forged parts unless a bunch of people have problems. I think the K1 and Molnar are drilled for better oiling---forgot what they called that.

I bought a set of Molnar rods a few years ago, those things were a ******* work of art. Tom Molnar is one knowledgeable dude, and really informative to boot. We talked on the phone for nearly 3 hours about rods and racing in general and he was so cool about everything. A lot of people don't seem to know that he was the designer of Oliver's rods, the founder and designer of K1's rods and cranks, and after selling that to the Dover company that also owns Wiseco and other big name brands, started his small offshoot that makes extremely high quality products. Will absolutely buy from him again, no hesitation.

 

Molnar rods are finished in the USA. They are prolly cast overseas.

Check out the MOLNAR web site. Tom started K1 then sold it. I use his rods with a Chevrolet crank and Mahle pistons. Manley Diamond Ross and JE are also quality products. I think the Manley pistons used to be BRC and Manley bought the entire line. Kind of like the original General Kinetics Camshaft line. It would take the FBI today to find out how many company's have sold Dons old line of cam grinds. GK was the monster back before Comp Cam. The XE and Magnum lines created an entire new company. Kind of like World cast iron heads built Dart and World today. Bill Mitchell, Gary St.Dennis and Dick Maskin started an entire industry. We all benefited. Saved $$$
