L92 stock botom end with nitrous
The kicker is.... I want to do this with stock pistons...
I know... Has anyone gone to a steel top ring on the stock pistons with any luck? I've got the engine on the stand, now would be the time to do it...
a piston upgrade will come in the future, its inevitable. but it will also mean more ci and I'm not wanting to do this yet. I really want to push the stock shortblock and see what it can handle. It will take patience, meticulous tuning, and careful monitoring of the entire system to make it happen and live thru it.
I've sprayed plenty of these engines on stock rotating assemblies up to a single stage 250 hit with good luck... only one melt down from an injector issue.. That being said I'm not shooting from the hip here. I'd just like to know if there's any upgrades I can do (even a different gap on the stock rings) that would help it live longer.
with a proper tune, Ask me how I know this. The ring land will go before the ring will cause you problems.
and yes, I'd like to know how you know
I then said **** it again and bought a 416 rotating assembly from TSP. No more worries.

As far as the nitrous, with the right tune it will take more than you think. Carter01 in the nitrous section is on a 300 hit on the stock longblock with only a cam and he just ran 9.80's on a soft 1.4 60ft. He usually cuts a 1.34 60ft. So 9.60's is in his future. Full weight too.
