good deal on forged pistons?

Default good deal on forged pistons?

does anybody know where i can get forged pistons for a stock stroke 6.0? ive found select few but most are for a longer rod...and not to mention most are almost 700-800$. i had ordered some oversize hypernutecnic pistons but they are back ordered and they keep adding on to the arival time.

p.s. they need to be oversize...would prefer .010-.020

Probe pistons maybe? I know they are big with the ford guys.

You may want to try contacting AES for some of their CP pistons.

If you want cheap and forged, id try dss racing. they make ls1 pistons now. I havent used them before but they seem to be solid in the ford engines.

Theres a link and some of techs sponsors sell them. Such as speed inc. Didnt realize you wanted stock rods, but might be easier going aftermarket with some scat rods, come with arp bolts and under 300 for set.

Mahle will have them.

They have them in
3.622" stroke or 4.000"
.943" or a .927" pin
Stock, .005" oversize, and not sure the higher sizes, I know they have them. You can possibly call them directly or call jegs/summit and they will get them ordered.

would i even benifit from upgrading the rod to a longer one? i know it wont effect stroke cause it still has the same stroke on the stock crank...but i do know it will allow me to hold a little more power with the piston and possible rod combo

You cant go with a longer rod without changing your crank. As far as upgrading them I probably would. You can get good deals on rods and pistons.

As far as finding some pistons that arent for strokers I bet most anyone that sells engines and rotating assemblies will have them but they arent just listed on their web page. Contact one of the many supporters and I bet they will take care of you.

You can go with a different rod with the same crankshaft if you change the CH or pin height of the piston. There is no real point in changing the length of rod though, maybe different rod bolts but that is about it.

i know the piston will have to match the rod size and stroke to work properly...i learned in a perfromance course that a longer rod would mean more leverage resulting in more torque, not sure if it would give a majorly
noticable increase

Reher-Morrison says this is not true.






Smokey Yunick says it is true.




Kind of hard to tell what is true huh? I believe that on a street motor you don't pick the rods on the engine, you fit the rods to your crank and piston combo.

haha, it defonitly is kinda hard...im probly going to go with some forged 6.125 rods and pistons for the 3.622 stroke with the 6.125 rod...not saying ill see a difference, because i dout i will but i know i will remove the two weak points in the block
