Default N/A LS9 or 525LS3

This is my first post so take it easy on me!

I have new LS9 crate engine that is more than I need for a project. A friend had it and his project changed so I bought it and I thought I could make it work but in the end, my budget won't allow it. I thought about selling the super charger and the harness and using the LS9 with a traditional intake. I have also considered selling the whole package and going with the new LS3 525hp with dry sump. This is a track day/ NASA series race car.

Money is not the only consideration but it matters. I expect to have $10k in the LS3 and after I sold the super charger and harness, I would still have more than that in the LS9. What are you thoughts? How much more value do I get in the LS9 and is it worth another 4 or 5k?

I dont see how you would come aout ahead selling the entire LS9 and then buying another LS3 engine with dry sump.

the blocks are the same so al lthe same modifications will be needed.

why not sell the supercharger and then use that money to put a cam into the ls9 and go with a ls3 intake?

not sure what you paid for the ls9 but I doubt you will get as much selling it as what a new ls3 would cost.

eeerrmmm... ls9 crate engine is $20-25k, ls3 is $6-7k. he would be WAY ahead if he sold the ls9 and built an ls3 instead

I'd see what the going rate for the completge LS9 is before making any decisions. Not a lot of these out there - might be someone looking for this engine and willing to pay for it.

While full of nice parts, the pistons for LS9 are lower compression and may not be the best application for NA.
