I had this happen to me about 2 years ago.
My v-6 Firebird did this for a good couple of weeks until I finally had the time to diagnose it.
It was the MAF.
I cleaned it first with no avail, then just replaced it.
I haven't had a problem yet (:

It won't be the keys. Once the car is started the VATS system goes into a bypass mode. It will stay running even if you yanked the keys out of the lock cylinder or even if you disconnected the orange wire with the 2 little white wires in it under the dash.
Could be your fuel pump, the relay that feeds the pump or check the ground pack that feeds the pcm. Pcm gives ground to everything to make things turn on.
Check the voltage coming out of the cam and crank sensor. It should be a 5 volt signal. Its best if you had a scan tool and check it because its harder to check the voltage with a multimeter.
Sorry for the rundown, I'm a diagnostic type of guy I don't just swap parts.
