Solid lifter? Guys I got a 05 GTO. Thinking about going ls3 top end and I was wanting to change the cam as well. Wanting to know Pro's and Con's of a solid valvetrain? As for the use of my car it is not a DD just a toy that see's about 3 track outings a year and I put about 3K miles a year.

Cons Cost ,Maintence,driveability are the big ones.
Pros Bigger cams with more lift and duration, the ability to spin higher rpms, less oil flowing to the top end, less chance of valve float.
At present the intakes that fit under many hoods won't flow enough air to justify a soild roller. IMOP.
Race only car looking to run a number or a class sure, a street driven car Hmm not worth the cost .

To get stuff that will live you are looking at close to $800 in springs and retainers keepers.
