Default LS1 to LS3?

Hi Guys,
I am working on putting a used LS1/T56 combo with approximately 110K on it into my 67 camaro. I saw this LS3 (http://sdparts.com/details/gm-perfor...parts/19244097) for under 7K and got to thinking. What would it cost to use this in place of the LS1? Can I use the same computer (2002 Camaro pull out)? How about the drive by wire rather than the computer throttle that this comes with? Just overall curious what it would take to go from an LS1 to an LS3 in case I decide to do so in the near future, this is a great price for that motor! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to buy a 90mm cable throttle body, cam & knock sensor extensions (you would use the 01 knock sensors) and I think the mafs extension because the ls3 intake has it in the front? IIRC. They are pretty cheap parts except for the TB, I'd go with a UMI. I had one and it was flawless and had no problems. Yes you can still use that 01 computer and as long as it has a 24x crank reluctor wheel if it has a 58x then you'd also need a converter that Lingenfelter sells for about 200.00 or maybe SDPC can sell you one with a 24x wheel?

If you have headers from the Ls1 I'd slap them on this one, if not get a 1 7/8's and I'd stab it with an LG cam! Guys are making 450-475 RWHP cam ONLY.
That's what came to mind this early I might be missing something....

Thanks for the detailed response! After a little more research I was able to find out more specifics, including the added cost of making the LS3 work. I think it comes to an extra $1,500 or so on top of the cost of the engine. I think I'll stick with my LS1/T56 pull out for now just so I can get the car converted to LS power. Then I might get a maggie TVS if I need the extra HP. This way, when the LS1 goes out, I can always use the maggie. It should fit an LS3 right???

LS1 magnacharger will not work on an LS3 engine, they have different style heads.
