Aluminum 'Press In Sleeve' block warning
The use of an improvised cylinder ring (that uses no machined receiver grove) or a gas expandable ring as used by some head gasket companies can cause unwarranted effects to the 'press in' cylinder sleeves causing them to be pressed into the block and below the deck surface, potentially damaging the seating surface for the sleeves.
Traditional O ring with a receiver grove using a copper or graphite gasket has proven to be satisfactory, provided the depths of the groves are done properly.
