timing chain issues

The clearance was off. There was not enough space for the cam to fully tighten into the gear. So everytime I torqued the gear down on the cam it sucked the cam up against the back of the retaining plate and pinched the plate not allowing any of it to turn. So I took it to my machine shop(houston engine and balancing) and they told me that there needs to be anywhere from .003 to .005 clearance and there was absolutly none lol. So he is just going to take a little off the cam gear allowing the cam to bottom out in the gear and still have the required .003 to .005 clearance needed. He said he has never seen an ls motor do that before, thats just my luck leave it to me get the one that does lol, oh well its all good now

oh I'm sorry I didnt notice you had already answered that lol, yeah that is what was prolly wrong with mine, being milled too deep would create the same problem I was having, thanks for posting that, good stuff
