Question for ls guru's, is a stroker shortblock worth the $$$? I have been considering a stroker kit for a little more power, but mostly more torque. I came across this http://www.schwankeshortblocks.com/s...?i=1497&c=1216 and wondered if this is worth it, and what gains would be expected. They also offer this http://www.schwankeshortblocks.com/s...?i=1500&c=1216 . I have done some reading that more than a 4" stroke is dangerous for piston stability. If it is on the internet it must be true. Another question is is my l76 shortblock of any value to offset the new motor? I already have milled, worked heads, and am understanding that all my stuff from my current engine will be a direct fit to this new block. An aluminum ls3 427 is also offered for about 1k more. Would I need stronger suspension springs if an iron block is used? Thanks much for any input.
YES, your L76 block is worth something as it is an LS2 with DOD, which is easily deleted.
I would debate going iron block in a car that already weighs around 4300lbs. The iron block is another 110lbs.

If your not spraying it no need to go iron block with the extra weight. For the money difference its tough to shell out the extra cash for the aluminium block....... Either one with a nice H/C setup will haul ballz.

stroker kit means nothing wiithout the top end of the engine. The power is made in the heads. Dont forget about that, spending money there is just as important as the bottom end and should get equal attention or you could be disappointed
