Default Head install...

Ok i got the head put back on and everything lined up perfectly and i ran every head bolt down with my fingers before i torqued them down. Then after everything was torqued down properly i turn to find the dowels laying on the ground that went in the head and the block.

Are these dowels required? Everything lined up very well and looks good... Just didnt know if they are required?

x2,.Dowl pin is what center's the head/headgasket on the block correctly.Unless your ok with oil leaking/coolant possibly leaking into the cylinders or out the heads I would remove heads and install them.
