Hard to argue with made in USA and $99. Look at the size of the clips!

Trying to understand why you're not running a REAL rocker arm setup on such a killer motor?

Not spending $2000 for a custom offset rocker arm set that costs as much as my heads, when it isn't needed.

How much is the rebuild gonna cost? Your cam is about the size of my solid cam. I wouldn't exactly say it's not needed.

I agree. The trunion upgrade does change the lift limitations of a stock rocker.

Nothing was damaged, so I'm just reringing the motor+bearings and lifters. ~$600 in parts + the cost of a hone and clean tank at the machine shop. Maybe $1k for a freshening?

Comp responded, and is sending out a brand new trunion kit. Good on them to step up

Now all you need is an extra set of clips and you'll have two trunion kits. Good of comp to step up and hopefully they look into the problem. That little clip failure could cost someone some serious money

Perhaps you over-expanded the clip when you put it on? The clips appear to only serve as a backup if a bearing walks out of the rocker.

I agree with ferocity02 the bearings are press fit and the ring is a backup, overextending the clip would make sense. As far as the summit trunions are you sure they are made in the usa?

That picture on the first page of the rocker arm in a hand is mine.
I was up way to long and was ordering parts for more than one project. I was going to order the trunnion kit from Tooley but I had a large order going in at Summit. So I searched trunnion upgrade and added to cart. I noticed the price and thought they where on sale.

The next day everything showed up I realized I had not ordered the Comp Cams trunnions. Because it was for my engine I decided to try them. The bearings are made in the USA. Says right on them. Where the clips and trunnions are made I don't know. I would not be surprised if the trunnions are made here. They don't say. Getting them made in china would only be cost effective if they got millions made. I took one trunnion into the lab at work. I am a toolmaker at a aerospace parts manufacture. The tech said a quick scan says they are most likely 8620. Not a normal made in china steel. I checked the hardness and it was very good. The fit and finish was also good.

Now all that said they are not as good a deal as they look. The Comp kit includes new bolts The Summit kit does not. But it does have the really nice beefy clips.

Pics

Got around to re-doing the rockers today, and came across another issue. The trunions are ALL pitted, on one side of the rocker, only on the bottom. The pitting is minor, and they feel smooth when you rotate the rocker on the trunion, but obviously something isnt kosher because it's wearing the metal away. The bearings look fine, but its hard to really inspect the needles. Ideas? Sent another email in to comp.

DC,

I might have expected that from the stock needles, are you sure they weren't like that before the trunnions were first installed? What do the inner races on the Comp bearings look like?
