Lost. I bought an LS1 from craigslist with a spun rod bearing for $400.00. Had it pressure checked (it was good.). I had it honed .010 over and the crank turned .020/.020 new cam bearings and cleaning was $477.00. So I have $877.00 in a block and crank. The rods can't be re-sized and the pistons are worthless. So If Im going to build a bottom end, should I build one for a a bigger block?
My reason for posting in the gen IV section is because I'm thinking of selling and starting over with a 6.0 Iron block. I figure if Im going to have to build the bottom end anyway might as well build a bigger displacement block. If I had the cash I'd have a 5.3 re-sleeved to the LS3 bore but that's like 2k plus 5.3 core.
I plan on keeping my heads for the 6.0. Can I use the LS1 turned crank in a 6.0?

Yeah, .010 is alot on an LS1 block. It's the reason why the stock bore is 3.898 and the only shelf piston that I know of is 3.905 which would put you .007 like bww3588 said. For .010 over you would need a 3.908 piston and I don't know of anybody who makes one.
If you are going to go 6.0 I would take the iron block out to 4.065 so you can use an LS3 rotating assembly or try to find an LS3 block on here or craigslist.

The difference between .007" and .010" is about the thickness of a plain sheet of notebook paper, divided in half and that's .0015". That's not gonna make the engine any less reliable.
The biggest setback is finding a 3.908" piston, which I'm pretty sure is a shelf piston that Mahle makes, so that's not really a big deal either.
Nearly $500 for that little amount of machining is a raping though, I wouldn't expect to recover your money by selling the stuff. You may be lucky to sell it all for $600.
