Porting a TBSS intake
Porting a TBSS intake Has anybody cut into their intake to take the restrictions out of the inside? What did you use to cut it open? I'm thinking a dremel with a cut off wheel. What did you use to put it back together with? Would a 2 part epoxy work good?

I would not cut into any intake. They are already designed to get damn good flow out of them and most of the time people trying to port/modify them make it worse. Leave it alone, if your concerned about flow buy a Fast.

a tbss/nnbs intake can benefit from porting as its opening is not as generous as an l92 intake. i have ported 2 tbss intakes, one for a stroker 402 motor cause the guy was fed up with the fast sealing issues and another one for a buddy with a built 6.0. both were content with the porting. the one with 402 because still had good power without the issues. the one with the 6.0 noticed an increase in top end power. if you wis you can pm me your email addy (as i have problems posting pics on here) and i can email you pics of stock versus ported.
ive had a fast and the response and power was great once warm but the sealing issues resulted in me having to crank start my truck 5-6 times before i could get it to stay on and it would die on me at stops ocassionally, and it got old after several months.

I know the benefits of porting an intake and I know the restriction inside my TBSS intake, what I want to know is what did you use to cut the intake open with and what did you use to seal it shut with

So I decided rather than send my intake to Peak Speed shop that I would do the porting my self. I'm the hands on type and if I can save a butt load of money by doing things myself I do.

It was some kind of plastic weld or epoxy. It was only visible in a few real small spots. I'm going to try some epoxy they use in the body shop to hang quarter panels with. It bonds plastic, metal, wood anything it gets on.
