Question HUC lobes

I wanted to ask you guys opinion on the HUC lobes. Is there any loss of horsepower with these lobes versus the comp extreme energy lobes, i think they are called the xel lobes. I know the marine lobes like the wide open throttle more. I had a cam recommended to me using the HUC lobes but i heard i would lose some horsepower with this design and wanted to get feed back from yall.

Talk too Brian Tooley.

Brain Tooley racing.

The HUC lobes are good to keep the valve train under control. Also helps parts live longer.

HUC lobes are much easier on the valvetrain, while being very stable at high rpms. they also allow your springs to live a longer life due to less stress.

The smallest HUC is 294 @.006"/239@.05"/158@.200" with .365 lobe lift so 1.7 ratio is .621 lift.

Comparable XER is 287@.006"/238@.05"/159@.200" with .356 lobe lift so 1.7 ratio is .605 lift.

HUC lobe should make more power, they're also faster off the seat than LsL lobes and more stable.

So a HUC lobe with 237-251 duration @.050, 610-632 lift, would be what on a XER lobe design

The HUC lobe is what Erik used on the first NA 468 he built for me 3 years ago. 670rwhp 632rwtq SAE corrected on 93octane pump gas 11:1 compression, full exhaust and accessories. It was 696rwhp and 65xrwtq actual uncorrected.

I think they work. IIRC they were designed for marine applications that tend to run at elevated rpms constantly.

I wonder what lobes he used on my current build?? I have to ask him.

XE-R stops at 248. 237 with .610 lift sounds more like the Extreme Marine lobe 236 - .612. HUC is a little more stable and has more lift.

The FTP Mustang was fast, going 5.20's in the 1/8 with a air to air intercooler. But I just had a 6.0 with BTR/TFS 220 As Cast heads, LS6 intake and air to water intercooler run 5.17 @ 137 with the same cam!

Not bad for less than 400 lbs open spring pressure and stock rockers!

Hahaha, yep, he's loving it. He called yesterday to order another cam, he's building a spare bullet. It's nice when your spare bullet consists of sliding a cam in a stock shortblock.

Thanks Brent, here are some more HUC lobes. I'm not sure why Comp doesn't have a single source that lists all HUC lobes. More like a Easter egg hunt... LOL
