Default Block identification

Hey guys, I bought a c5z about a month ago and noticed the block has been painted black and it has 862 casting number heads. So I've been trying to find somewhere on the block that can tell me what block it is. Hopefully its the original ls6 block, but I know 862 heads came from the 5.3's. Whats the EASIEST way to find out what block this is? Thanks fellas

If it's painted, are you sure it's even aluminum?

yeah first thing i would do is take a magnet to the block and see if its iron. if it sticks, you know immediately that its not the original motor.
