I built the car to be a nice cruiser with great street manners with an eye more towards turning corners than straight line performance. The drive train is a 2004R with a 2800 rpm lock up converter, 3.42 rear, 25.7" Nitto tire. It has AC, PS, and the engine pulls enough vacuum for my big 13" 4 wheel power disc brakes. This combo cruises effortlessly at 1750rpms with the converter locked at 55mph uphill with no lugging at all. Just a very mild, and easily drive able street combo. It weighs in at 3485 with me in it.
Car went 11.777 at 117 on my first pass on a badly ,busted traction 1.959 60 ft. The Hotchkis TVS suspension hates drag strips, LOL. I went back around for another try and this time I put some more heat in the Nittos. I still blew the tires off, but feathered it to a 1.876 60 ft and 11.65 at 118.22 MPH. You just gotta love those LS3 heads with the right camshaft ! Its crazy for me to understand how an engine that can cruise, smooth as silk at less than 2000rpms can still buzz to 7000rpms without any noticeable drop off ! I come from a SBC back ground and am just amazed that these engines can pull that off !
I posted the time slips and 2 vids over on the "carbed LSX" forum, if anyone wants to see.
Our LS3 powered Monaro has managed as low as 1.52 sixty foot times on 265/40/18's.
It hooked OK with the stock 2100rpm GN stall I had in it before, but at that time I was working through the bugs in the car. When I tore the stock converter up, I had a stall built at 2800, and now that extra 700rpms of stall has pushed me too high into the power band for the road racing suspension setup, to hook on the Nittos.
