Default Confused about LS7 heads

Hi folks -

I have acquired an LS7 out of a Z06 with about 6000 miles on it. I'm planning to go through it thoroughly before I install it, but I'm confused as to whether I should:

1. send the factory heads to WCCH for guides and porting. If yes, do I let them put in Stainless exhaust valves, or pay for Titanium?

2. Buy the PRC heads from Texas Speed. If this route is chosen, do I get the 265 or 285 version. I am not planning to change the cam from stock.

I am planning to use a FAST 102mm intake matched to a Motec M800 ECU.

Thanks for any ideas on either 1 or 2 - and anything else the group recommends.

AG

There's other options out there.

- You can send your heads to Texas Speed and have them run either the 265 or 285 porting program on them. The 285's could be used with bigger cams on a 427, or on
larger cubes like a 434 or 440.
- Reher Morrison has a program. Call Darin Morgan there. Great great guy.

Also, the titanium v SS exhaust valves is a personal preference, but from all the porters I've talked to, they've told me the TI exhaust valves aren't really needed for a street car.

you've already got the LS7 heads... Send them to WCCH and have their stage 2 CNC program ran on them, get the stainless exhaust valves, and throw them on with a nice cam. Your jaw will drop when you see what that engine will do on a dyno.

I'd go WCCH with the Stainless exhaust valves...

AI also does LS7 heads and that's who LG uses on their packages. They've made like 660rwhp with the stock LS7 manifold with those in a 454.

Id say just have the heads go through a good 5? angle valve job and call it good. The OP wants to keep the stock cam, so dollar for HP, I don't think its worth the cash layout . The factory LS7 heads are pretty stellar, as is, and have more than enough flow for the factory cam, IMO.
