Default Dry sump LS3

Looking at a dry sump LS3 but I would like to convert it over to a wet sump. Any ideas on what has to be done to convert it over?

I don't want to deal with the external tank and plumbing, plus the price is right.

Of all the things you'd need to change, most importantly, I believe you have to swap the crankshaft...in addition to a regular oil pump, timing cover and I THINK a regular oil pan and windage tray...or at least block off the external oil feeds.

It's not a simple or cheap task, unless you find someone with a regular LS3 that wants to swap or you plan on buying a new short-snout crankshaft

Just so happens I have my LS3 apart and at the machine shop right now and was contemplating converting to a dry sump system...if you can pull your crank and oil system in the next week, I'll trade you my short snout crank, SD ported LS pump, timing cover, windage tray and C6 oil pan...straight trade, wet sump LS3 system for dry sump LS3 setup.

...and all my extra parts are up for sale in the forums. So if you want to make a swap, let me know quickly before I sell it all.

The steps to convert a ls3 dry sump to wet would be identical to converting an LS7.

The dry sump ls3s have forged cranks.

Scoggin Dickey Chevy parts has a spacer you will need for the crankshaft when you change the oil pump, I think you need a new timing chain assembly, new oil pump, new oil pan/pickup assembly. If the Grand Sport Vette you got donor motor from was late build (after 2010) there might be a swap of the oil passage cover above the oil filter because some motors had oil coolers plumbed out of the block at this bolt on boss above the oil filter. Possibly might need a new timing chain cover too but, good thing is that oild parts are worth something. Myself, I'm keeping my dry sump LS3 dry sumped, it isn't that hard to find mounting area for tank and there are lots of early LS7 dry sump tanks for sale from guys who track their Z06 Vettes. If your building a "pro touring" type of car your crazy not to keep dry sump system.
