Default engine builders opinion

I'm putting an LQ9 engine that i bought in my 69 camaro and would like some opinions. It was in a pickup truck that i heard and got a ride in. He built the top end of the engine and said it had a 1000 miles on the set up. He said it was out of a 45k mile 2004 silverado ss truck when he bought it. The engine has a set of LS3 heads on it and a 273LR comp cam. The specs on the cam are 223/231 .610/.617, he never checked the PTV and has had no problems with the engine, no leaks and sounded tight when i saw it....he sold it to put in a new higher powered engine that is boosted. Now the question....do i pull the head and check the PTV.....or just throw it in the car? just don't want to take something apart that seems to work...but if people more knowledgable then me say something different...i'll follow that advice!

LS3 heads have alot of freedrop so you should be fine with that small of a cam but LSA and ICL would be needed to know how close it is

If you did want to check it,you just need to remove the valve springs of 1 cyllender

You're fine. I'd run it even if the heads were milled. That cam is relatively small but LSA and ICL would help. I still think it'll clear with 0.100-0.150 clearance at least

From the comp cam card: LSA 112 degree's with a ICL of 107 degree's. I was told by the person who did the cam installation that it was installed with no advance or straight up. Heres a clip from his phone of the engine running the night before we met to hear and get a ride.:

Just getting it to ttt for opinions on whether to take head off to check PTV clearance or just run it as is?
So to make it easier the cam is comp cam 273LR 223/231 .610/.617 with a 112 LSA and a 107 ICL. The heads are casting 0821 LS3's.

IIRC Texas Speed sold my friend a 231/237...647"/.624" sized cam for his
LS3 Vette.....I'm guessing that's about the limit for compatability with the
stock flat pistons.

It will be fine run it, why would you tear apart a running engine to check PTV at this point? If it's an automatic application I would not sweat it at all.
