Question I have is .006 acceptable piston to wall clearance in a turbo motor that will see alot of street use? Pistons are mahle 2618 forged. Thanks

Not sure, but you should have received info on piston to wall clearance from the piston manufacturer?

That's pretty excessive to me, I'd like to see more like .0035-.004". That much clearance might cause some piston slap when the engine is cold.

I know its a bit excessive problem is its the way I received it only question now is to start over or run it. Im ok with a little cold piston rattle but I would prefer not to have a diesel.

Personally, I wouldn't accept that for a street car. I'd fix it or run a different shortblock altogether. I don't think it will make a horrible amount of racket, but then again, it could. What I can tell you is that it won't cause it to blow up or anything.

anyway you can return the pistons and get the correct ones? If not I would sell those and go with a better fitting piston...I would rather do it right the first time and lose a little money then do it multiple times
