oil pump question
There's one place that extra oil pressure will be a big help. If you have a rebuilt performance engine, you might not know exactly what your bearing clearances are. If your clearances are on the loose side, extra oil volume (leading to higher pressure) will be a BIG help and hide/eliminate a lot of the problems you would otherwise encounter with loose bearing clearances.
How much extra you might need is often debated. You can always run more volume/pressure, but in theory it will use more HP than a stock pump. A ported LS1 pump is probably a good pump for most aftermarket performance engines. The pumps found in Gen4 AFM/DoD vehicles move a lot of oil and are probably overkill, though sometimes people still run them.
