Default Your final thought before I pull the trigger : BluePrint LS 427?

Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit more HP than my current stock LS2 (in a 1970 Camaro), I kept hearing about the BluePrint LS 427 crate engine for quite a while now with mixed thoughts, I see most of the people that don't recommend it only because they question the build quality, but the guys who actually tried that engine are pleased with it. This engine comes in a attractive price of $11500 with all the wiring and a tuned PCM and a dyno sheet that proves it made more than 625 HP. Any thoughts that would help me make a decision?

There are two common ways to build a "427" LS motor, the best method uses a bonafide LS7 (or big $$$ sleeved up) block and a 4" crank, the other uses an LS3/L92 block with a 4.125" crank. The latter is much cheaper to build (relatively) but the long stroke cause problems down the road. Which flavor is the one you're wanting?

I think their engine uses a LS3 block with a 4.125 stroke crankshaft.

I have been thinking about it, but I would get a LSX454 instead. similar in price and the block and heads are 10x better
