Default Is the LS7 a good reliable engine?

Seriously. I am familiar with LS1/2/6 but not this one.

Good DD,bolt-on, light cammed, medium cammed, NO2?

Saw the Chevrolet memo on the heads. How is the basic design? Good OEM combo or some questionable choices which we now know years later and need to be corrected.

I own two! One since 2006 and my DD Z06 has 45K miles with ZERO issues!

I am looking at a Z06 and so ask. Weird looking at a new car when there is so much unknown compared the one owned for 10years+.

I think the LS7s are fine as long as you address the cylinder head issues, and don't try to push them by going to FI. NA, they seem to do very well.

When I pulled the heads on my LS7 Monte Carlo to swap them out with the ported heads this past year after putting ~15k DD miles on them the guides measured out (using a bore gauge, not unreliable wiggle test!) at 0.0018" which is well within spec, well within the Service Manual spec of .0026 - .0037!

Are those both "stock" ?

The OP was asking about "modded" LS7's ( Quote: "Good DD,bolt-on, light cammed, medium cammed, NO2? " ) . . . Definitely not left "stock". . . How reliable is an LS7 with a "steady diet" of Nitrous ?

The Z06 is stock and the Monte had headers, ported TB and tuning.

How reliable is an LS7 with a "steady diet" of Nitrous ?
Personally I am not comfortable with Nitrous on any motor but that's just me!
