Default H/c/i ls1 vs ls3??

I have an 00 WS6 6spd. I have been planning on doing the vengeance racing H/C package plus intake and a few other goodies.. priced out it 4-5k w/o tune with 450ish to the wheels..

Then while trolling ebay I found this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS3-ENGINE-500HP-FORGED-INTERNALS-BALANCED-ASSEMBLY-LS2-LS1-LS6-/201085044008?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ed19a4528
Rebuilt LS3, cammed and forged for $6.500. I'll be honest I don't know much about the LS3s as everything I have researched was for my LS1.. I'm wondering if its better to just spend the extra 2500 for basically a new engine, vs doing all that work too a 15 year old engine with 100k+ miles, thats been doing some sitting

Add says its 500hp (which I really don't know how accurate that is but seems close) and I figure I could always port and polish heads later, or since the rods and pistons are forged, maybe even a supercharger down the road

ohh and best part, I can pull all the accessories off my LS1. From what I read all i need is a tune and a few wire harness extensions and I should be mostly good to swap over. I already have a fast 90TB that runs off cable, so I could just swap that onto the new intake..

Any thoughts?

If you can afford it I think that LS3 is a great option!

If you can swing it, definitely go for the LS3. It will make more power (with that cam and heads it should be right at 500rwhp) and is a brand new built engine vs. an 100k stock bottom end.

Not only will you have more reliability this way, but the LS3 has much more potential for further upgrades than your LS1.

I agree that the LS3 is a better option if you can afford it.

Yeah and I'm really trying to justify the money, but with 4500 for upgrading an old LS1 or an extra 2k for a nice LS3.. I think ill go the LS3 route.. Just really makes sense, and I'll still have my LS1 to boot..

Anyone herd of that vendor, seems to have alot of LS motors come in and out

humoring myself, i was doing some reading on lq9/4 builds... once again, i think its almost like my LS1.. 2500 for engine, 500 for intake, 750 for cam and spring etcs, 500 ported heads, and then that all on a used motor with stock bottom end, for the same HP as my original LS1 build.

Could I go the magna charger route down the road with the pistons and heads?? to spend 6500 on an engine, id like the room to grow, and have always wanted a supercharger (again down the road)..
