How much will soundproofing affect performance?

I am thinking of adding soundproofing material to the inside of the car. Material such as Dynamat, Second Skin, Brown bread, B-quiet etc.

I want to put in a layer of sound dampner such as Dynamat and another layer of closed cell foam in the entire trunk and interior floor, including the doors and roof.

Needless to say, that is going to add a considerable amount of weight. Not sure how much weight exactly. Feel free to share any knowledge you might have regarding the weight of these products.

If "for example" it adds 200lb, how much would that hurt performance?...particularly stop light racing.

I have second skin in my car. The foil type is about 15lbs a box. The foam cell is 20lbs a sheet

How many boxes and sheets do you reckon I am looking at to cover the entire trunk and interior floor panel, as well as the doors and roof of a G8?

You're not going to add close to 200lbs.

I would say 20-30lbs max which you're not going to notice one bit.

If you are really worried about it, buy the material, throw it in the passenger seat and drive around. If you can tell the difference you have super human abilities.

I have second skin damplifier and 9 square feet of luxury liner pro on my camaro, it was about 20 lbs. The second skin damplifier is going to make the car a little quieter, but the biggest difference is going to be from the luxury liner but its heavy.

I put some second skin pro on the rear well and hatch because I was running 2 12"s on 2000rms. I think it added about 20lbs.

think of having a friend in the passenger seat. you might notice it a tiny bit. I would say 200ish pounds of any deadener would be way way way overkiill..

I personally like feeling and hearing the rumble. isnt that why you bought it?

You'd have to add hundreds of pounds to maybe notice the extra weight. And even then, you're not likely to notice.

Is the second skin damplifier the same material/idea as Dynamat and the luxury liner like ensolite which is closed cell foam?

The luxury liner comes in a 2 layer sheet that is glued together so it is easy to cut and I think it works better but that's just me
