Default Hesitation at low rpm. 05 GTO LS2

Howdy

I have a Pontiac GTO with the 6.0 LS2.
It has a Comp Cam ( ill post the specs later dont recall them offhand), a cai, LT Headers, full exhaust, anda TBS.
Heres the situation.
When the car is in park and you go to rev it up from idle it has quite a noticeable hesitation when you hit the gas. After it makes its way though that lil spurt it revs up fine. It also does the same thing when you go to launch. (Did it to me launching at the track) Almost like it has a retard set into it. And its a consistent happening not an on and off occurence.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Chris

Has the MAF sensor been modified or relocated? Have the PCV hoses been modified or rerouted?

Well MAF is clean i cleaned it when i installed my new filter the other day. The car does set a system too lean code every now and again but its not consistent and it does not set off the "idiot light". It doesnt have a professional tune on it, just has the 91 octane tune from my diablosport predator handheld. Probably would seriously help getting it properly tuned lol.

Yeah, if you are getting a lean code then that likely explains why you have a hesitation.
Did it just start doing this after you changed the air filter?

You need to check for air leaks after the MAF. If this is a relatively stock car, I would say the engine is either sucking in unmetered air, or your tune scaled the MAF tables where it shouldn't have.

Air leak could be a vacuum line to the manifold or intake manifold gasket, also.

Oh, and check for exhaust leaks from the header to head flange all the way down about a foot after the front o2 sensors. The system will believe it's lean if outside air makes it to the o2 sensor. As a consequence, it may actually cause an over rich condition even though it's measuring lean.

Does that make sense?
