Default Thread Sealant

I recently removed my factory rocker arms. When i removed them from my AFR heads, it looks like the prior installer had loctite on the rocker bolts. Is this necessary? I just did the Comp Cam trunnion upgrade to the rockers and i am ready to put them back on the heads. Do i need to apply any type of sealant prior to torquing them to 22ft lbs?

Do any of the bolt holes break through into the ports?

It does not look like it but i am not 100% positive. I did not take the intake manifold off. I am not sure how far the heads have been ported by AFR. The heads are out of the box AFR 225 cathedral port heads for a LS2 engine.

I recently purchased the car from the original owner and he had a bunch of work done to the engine. The performance shop has since been out of business. I took the rocker arms off because the valvetrain is a little too loud to my liking and it turns out that the pushrods were too short according to my measurement.

It only took 3/8 of turn to achieve 22ft lbs of torque from zero lash. I was hoping it took at least 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns from zero lash. The pushrods were 7.350. I needed 7.450 to achieve 1 1/2 turns from zero lash.
It looks like the shop used blue loctite or something close to that. I was thinking along the line of permatex thread sealant.

I used loctite after having a bolt back out on me on the freeway.

The AFR heads are drilled all the way into the intake port. I use the permatex thread sealer on those holes. Ive never had any issues with any rockers backing off. The factory doesnt apply loctite or anything, however, stock castings dont have the hole drilled all the way into the port.
