Default ls3 help

what pistons should i use for a 416.5 cid build? and what lifters while we're at it? I'm confuzzed about the difference between hypereuretic and forged. and i found performance llifters from chev but they are 45 EACH and apparently only fit the 378 6.2 and the ls7?

Hypereutectic is just a fancy "casting" to me. There is more silicon in there and probably some other differences but basically just has better thermal expansion properties(less) than traditional cast aluminum but is nowhere near as strong as forged, IMO.

You are definitely in the right place to find the rest of the info you are asking about but from the questions you are asking, I think you would be better off calling a few reputable engine builders. The advice is generally free and they'll even give you a price.

I don't mean to insult you by this; I'm not about to build a 416 in my garage myself either. I've built engines but nothing exotic.

Good luck with your build.

Go forged pistons as they will stand a little detonation a lot better plus they are stronger. Most are using the LS7 lifter as they work just fine in most applications.

That compression is pretty damn low even for boost.

9.03? lol

I got the compression up to 10.39.... too much for boost? I hope not.
