LS2 + L92 GM Power Package
Howdy Gents:
I have a GTO LS2 engine with only 600 original miles on it. Its going in a '68 Camaro convertible. Rear end is a dana 44 C4 IRS. The car will be a cruiser but due to the IRS and convertible I can only put too much torque through it. At the same time... what's the fun of just putting a stock crate engine in? I know most guys on here prefer the "max" but I'm looking for the "mild."
So I either do some 243 head (CNC) work (I've actually have a set of 0 mile LS6 valves) and a slight cam or go the L92 route. Again, I'm only looking for ~ +30-40 hp/tq from stock and "manners".
So below is from an earlier GMPP catalog and they claim +40 hp/tq on a stock LS2. Is this for real... meaning, only add L92 heads and LS3 intake to a stock LS2 for a net 40? Please don't flame me for not wanted to go farther!

If you're only looking for 440 crank HP, don't even bother with a "power package". A VERY mild aftermarket cam easily get you more than that with stock heads.
I consider my cam fairly mild with stock LS3 heads and it's putting down 130 HP more to the crank than a stock LS2.
Hell, a good set of headers and exhaust would probably get you your 40 HP.

MX6.0, thanks!
The *519 camshaft is the stock LS2 cam so its just L92 heads + LS3 intake add. I do have 1 3/4" long tubes which I recognize gets me a little farther down the path.
I guess the easiest thing would be to keep the 243 heads and just add a mild cam. I was just curious if just bolting on L92's on a stock engine gains us 40 hp/tq. Pretty impressive actually.

I'd just send the 243 heads to Advanced Induction for a porting job. http://www.advancedinduction.com/LSX...inderHeads.php

For a mild LS2, you can leave the heads alone and achieve your goal with headers and a mild camshaft. You could also port the LS2 intake for more gains without sacrificing streetability.
